Anthony Yue
Anthony Yue’s musical journey began at an early age, starting piano at four and cello at six. In recent years, he has distinguished himself through numerous festival and competition successes. He earned first place at the Canada West Festival in 2023, second place in the 17-and-under strings category at the Canadian Music Competition in 2025, and first place in the Northern Alberta Concerto Competitions in both 2024 and 2026. Most recently, Anthony appeared as a soloist with the Edmonton Senior Youth Orchestra – of which he is a member – performing Dvořák’s Cello Concerto at Edmonton’s Winspear Centre.
A passionate collaborator, Anthony thrives on making music with others. He is an active participant in the Chamber Music Academy, where he studies under the mentorship of the Garneau String Quartet, and he is currently working toward his ARCT Piano Diploma. He also performs regularly with his sister, Tiana, sharing music each week at Sturgeon Community Hospital, senior residences, and community events.
Outside of music, Anthony enjoys spending time with family and friends while balancing the worlds of music, high school life and sports. He extends heartfelt thanks to all who have supported him along the way, especially his loving family, his piano teacher David Tutt and his cello teacher, Mr. Rafael Hoekman. Together with Mr. Hoekman’s English cello and bow, Anthony hopes, above all, to “make people smile”.
